Our Story
From University Friends to Brisbane's Leading Speech Therapy Practice
Caroline Ferris and Renee Cansdale's journey began in anatomy class at the University of Queensland 20 years ago. After graduation, their paths diverged—Caroline pursued research and private practice while earning her PhD, while Renee specialised in hospital and disability services.
In 2017, they reunited with a shared vision: create a speech pathology practice that combines evidence-based excellence with genuine family connection.
What started as two friends in a small clinic has grown into:

SOS Feeding Approach
For fussy eaters and feeding difficulties
The Sequential Oral Sensory approach helps children with food aversions, sensory processing differences, and problem feeders. Our SOS-trained team takes the stress out of mealtimes.
Hanen Programs
For parent-led language development
- More Than Words® - For children with autism
- It Takes Two to Talk® - For language delays, we train parents to become their child's primary language facilitator.
PODD Communication
For children with complex communication needs
Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display books and apps give non-speaking children a voice. Multiple team members are PODD-trained.
PROMPT Therapy
For children with motor speech disorders
REST. DTTC and PROMPT uses touch cues to guide jaw, lip, and tongue movements. Both Caroline and Renee are PROMPT Level 1 certified, making LTLE one of the few Brisbane practices with multiple PROMPT-trained therapists.
